Let’s Learn
The beginning of Ramadan is traditionally spent with family. This is a challenging time for many believers from Muslim backgrounds because they are often isolated from their family and even persecuted by them. These believers face pressure from their families to participate in Ramadan and shame if they don’t.
Deaf of Afghanistan
There are no known Deaf churches in Afghanistan. No part of the Bible or any gospel resource is available in Afghan Sign Language. Most Deaf in Afghanistan live marginalized lives, isolated without much hope to access the good news of abundant, eternal life in Jesus Christ.
From the Word
Isaiah 52:7
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.”
Let’s Pray
Heavenly Father, would You raise up men and women who are willing to go out and proclaim Your gospel to the Deaf of Afghanistan who have never had the opportunity to see Your good news signed in their language? Open the doors for them to share the good news of salvation with those who need to receive it.
Bonus Activity
Rice is a staple food in Afghanistan. Measure out 4 Tbsp. of rice and pour in a jar. Imagine these 4 tablespoons multiplied by 100,000 to represent the 400,000 Deaf of Afghanistan. What do you think needs to happen for them to access the gospel? Keep your 4 tablespoons of rice in a small jar to help you remember to ask God to make a way for them to see the gospel signed in their language.
