Prayer Fuel

Mingmar, pregnant with her second child, fears losing yet another baby as she did her first. She knows she did something wrong in her first pregnancy, so since then, Mingmar has sought the advice of the Tibetan Buddhist lamas on her travel, when to have children, and other decisions. She watches closely as the lamas use different forms of fortune-telling to receive wisdom. Mingmar does what the lama tells her to do.
She does not want to lose another child. Mingmar also spends her days trying to gain merit and appease the gods. She circles important temples and statues, offers money, food, and incense to the gods all along the way. She mutters prayers to the Tibetan Buddhist gods in hopes that she and her baby will be looked on with favor.
Fear fills Mingmar’s life. She knows firsthand that the gods will bring calamity unless she does everything just right. Though she still wonders what she did to cost her the life of her first baby, she will not take any chances. She will do everything she can to make the gods happy. Mingmar will continue to feverishly appease the gods, and when her child is born, she will teach him to fear them, too.

God, will you reveal yourself to Mingmar and the Kham Tibetans like her. Demonstrate that your power is above all gods to them.      

Pray for Kham Tibetans to hear the Good News and believe through the Bible and other Jesus Film in their language.       

Pray for Christian workers to live among the Kham and boldly share the Good News of Jesus with them.
