Pray for the Naxi
“Ah La La Lei.” That means “Hello” in my language of Naxi. My name is A Sho, and I’m a 28 year old guy from a small village in Yunnan Province in southwest China. I just moved into the city from the village a few years ago looking for work and found a job in the tourism business. Millions of Chinese tourists come to my town every year for the beauty, culture, and history, but I get a job out of it – I work in a restaurant in Old Town serving mainly Han Chinese tourists. Growing up, my belief system was shaped by my parents and teachers who believed in a mixture of communist atheism, ancestor worship, and materialism. I want to make a lot of money and get married, but housing and weddings are so expensive that it will take several more years before I can earn enough that any woman will want to marry me. In the meantime, I’ve been hearing from some tourists, as well as one of my local coworkers, about Christianity for the first time. In the village we had heard about Christmas before, but this is the first time I’ve heard about Jesus. But I’ve also heard from some that Christians can be persecuted for their faith. While this may cause fear in some, for me I’m curious why their faith is so serious? I would like to know more.

Jesus, please continue to unify the Christians who are enduring perseuction and hardship among the Naxi. Raise up their existing and new leaders and help them to be strong in faith and trust in Christ for all their needs.
Lord, raise up evangelists: both local, near culture, and far culture Christians who will come to the Naxi and faithfully share the gospel, patiently and lovingly. Help the Naxi to receive the love and forgiveness and see clearly the beauty of the gospel.
Holy Father, we honor you for all the work you have done in the past decades among the many workers who have served faithfully the Naxi. Please continue the work despite hardships and difficulties of working in a Communist land. Father we know you can do all things, so please remember the Naxi and all their needs.
