Pray for the Zansakari
My name is Dolma. I am from a remote Himalayan region of the world called Zanskar. We have lived isolated from the rest of the world for hundreds of years because there were no good roads to our area. We are farmers who live quiet lives. Ever since I can remember, I have tried to be a devout Tibetan Buddhist and care for my family. Each day I perform rituals and recite mantras to protect myself and my family from angry spirits. I worry if what I am doing is making a difference or if it is enough. Now that there is a new road to my village, more tourists come. One day I met a young man who told me about someone named Jesus. He said he was God, but I had never heard of him. Is Jesus a good god? Could he help protect my family from the angry spirits? I do not know. Maybe it is better not to worry about this Jesus and continue with my rituals. I need to protect my family. I don’t want to make our gods angry by talking about another god.

A recently constructed road has given more access to the remote area of Zanskar. Pray for Christians to travel this road to Zanskar to share the gospel. Pray for favor for Christian tour guides who hope to use tourism to share the gospel.
The younger generation of Zanskar people are traveling to the city to study. They are more exposed to outside influences and seem less interested in Tibetan Buddhism. Pray for this younger generation to meet Christians at their schools and for opportunities to hear about Jesus. Ask that some would even choose to follow – being the first from their area to do so.
Pray that the Zanskar will not be satisfied preforming rituals or reciting mantras to protect themselves from evil spirits. Pray that when they hear the good news of Jesus they would receive his grace and know that He is the one who will protect them.
