Pray for the Laba
My name is A-Yong, and I’m a 19-year-old Laba girl from a small village in Guangxi. I live with my parents and grandparents in a traditional stilt house, surrounded by lush green mountains and rice fields. I love helping my family with farm work and learning about our Laba culture and traditions.
As I go about my daily life, I’ve noticed that some people from other villages talk about a figure named “Jesus.” I’ve never heard of him before, and I’m curious about what they mean. I’ve heard rumors of Christians in other villages, but I don’t know much about their beliefs. To be honest, I’m not even sure what it means to be a Christian. Is it just another set of rituals and customs, or is it something more?
I’ve always been taught to respect and honor our ancestors and the spirits that surround us. We have our own traditional festivals and celebrations, and I feel proud to be a part of them. But I have to admit, I’m intrigued by the idea of something more. I wonder if there’s more to life than just following our traditional ways. I don’t know what the future holds, but I’m open to learning and exploring new ideas. For now, I’m content with my life in our small village, surrounded by the people and traditions I love.

Jesus, please call out faithful followers of you to go to the Laba and proclaim your good news.
We pray that the Laba would “seek the LORD while he may be found and call upon him while he is near.” We pray that they would not be content in the traditions of their ancestors, but would be diligent to seek the one True God.
Jesus, break the spiritual contentment that the Laba people feel regarding their religion. Many of them are fearful of the spirits around them who seem to control their everyday lives. We pray that they would be set free from the yoke of fear as they hear of Jesus and turn from their ways to follow Him.
